Our Eri Silk Roving is made from the short fiber of the cocoon. This fiber has been processed in the mill where the cocoons are separated into A grade and B grade and waste cocoons. After the cocoons are degummed a machine will separate the long and short fiber for making various yarn types. This roving is made from the short fiber of the B grade cocoon.
Since this is a shorter fiber you may experience breakage, so we recommend it for experienced spinners. It is also excellent for blending with other fibers that are easier to spin, like wool. The B grade cocoon and cocoon waste make the fiber slubby, which lends to a rustic type of yarn.
The natural color of this roving is the fiber that artisans are looking for. Experienced spinners love getting their hands on this ready to spin fiber.
